Planning for a wedding is fun and overwhelming at the same time. Every bride is excited to see her dream wedding come true in front of her eyes and in front of her friends and family! It is always a challenge to get the best dress for your cute flower girls, with so many options on the market. Here are some tips to help you narrow down your options quickly and settle for the best fitting dress.
The bridal dress code evolved so much over time, nothing surprises us at a wedding anymore. It is a challenge to find a wedding dress with a true WOW factor - and the flower girl dresses industry is following close behind! What is still most common, is matching the style with the overall feel of the wedding and the bride's dress style. You can match the flower girl dresses with the theme of the wedding by adding similar beads, laces or prints. Keep in mind the other bridesmaid’s dresses in terms of color, style, length or material. Flower girl dresses can also be a cute mini version for your wedding gown, or the bride’s maids dresses.
If your wedding is a classic wedding with a white wedding dress, you can add just a hint of color to the dress by choosing one (or a number of!) color(s) from your wedding color scheme and pick an accessory like a band, ribbon or flower in that color.
You have to consider whether your wedding is in autumn or winter. Go for velour or velvet for the cold seasons, match them with tights, and ensure they are in winter colors. If it is in the summer, go for light fabrics such as chiffon or lace.
Quality fabric does not come cheap especially for the wedding attire. However, if you are working with a tight budget - and this will sound funny! - feel the fabric! Many cheap fabrics are extremely itchy when worn for a number of hours. Even if the fabric is a little bit rougher than you would like, if you soak the fabric with fabric softener, it might be acceptable. If not... just count your losses and pick something that wont turn your flower girls into a herd of itchy kittens! It might seem funny, but it can really become a distraction for the girls.
The length of the flower girl dresses is determined by her age. Small girls might tip over long dresses, as older girls might be comfortable in full length as it gives them a princesses’ feel. If they have a basket, then the dress should be knee length since they cannot hold it as they walk. If your wedding dress is short, the flower girl dresses should also be short.
6. Comfort Last but not least, make sure the flower girl is comfortable in the dress. Avoid ill-fitting shoes, itchy fabrics, dresses that are oddly tailored or too tight.
